Pattaya Deep Sea Fishing

The Gulf of Thailand is generally unaffected by the seasonal monsoons, so deep sea fishing can be enjoyed in its calm waters throughout the year. The best months for catching big game fish however is between October and March. Usually during the summer months the local waters heat up and drive the larger fish further out to find cooler waters.

The Pattaya islands of Koh Phai, Koh Khram and Koh Samae San are where the deeper water is and this is where you are most likely to encounter varieties of bigger fish. The main species that can be caught would include, Reef Sharks, Nurse Sharks, Barracuda, Rays, Trevally Pomfret, Pompano, Tuna, Queen fish, King Mackerel, Groupers, Cobia, Snappers, Jacks and sometimes even a Marlin or a stunning sailfish.

The most effective forms of fishing we use is to fish with live squid and local live fish which are called ‘Pla Dang.’ Trolling is not so productive here as in other parts of the world and the key to a good day's catch is not only the live bait but the captains knowledge of the best fishing spots in accordance the days currents and general weather conditions.

Unfortunately the waters surrounding Pattaya have been overfished in recent times. The monster fish that were readily available during the 80’s and 90’s have greatly diminished. Here at Pattaya Yacht Charters we are not going to lie to you and suggest that we will guarantee you huge monster fish on every charter. However what we will guarantee you is that you have the best chances of a good day's catch when chartering one of our fishing boats simply because we have the best captains in the area. Our captain’s extensive knowledge and expertise of the local waters are second to none.
